Our Beliefs about Learning and Teaching

  • A positive environment allows students to feel safe.
  • High expectations must be set for ALL.
  • Effective teachers are enthusiastic about learning. They are also firm, fair, and consistent.
  • Students learn by example.
  • Learning is a lifelong process.
  • Clear procedures and expectations promote success.
  • Multiple instructional strategies and resources meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Multiple forms of assessment are used, including both formative and summative in individual classrooms and school, to help evaluate the on-going needs of all students.
  • Parents and community involvement is essential to successful learning experiences.
  • Successes are celebrated!
  • Teachers are most successful when we are involved in the decision making process.
  • It is our beliefs that guide the Hill Middle decision making process about implementation of all policies in regards to academics, conduct, and environment.
