MNPS Athletic Department
Roosevelt Sanders, Director
Athletics are a valuable part of the overall high school and middle school experience. Young people learn lifelong lessons as important as those taught in the classroom. Coaches use teachable moments to create better citizenship, sportsmanship, teamwork and self-discipline.
MNPS has approximately 700 coaches working at the 38 middle schools and 15 high schools with athletic programs. During the 2008-2009 school year, more than 8700 students participated in athletics – 4200 at the middle school level and 4500 at the high school level. 24% of our high school students and 42% of our middle school students were involved in sports programs last year.
